In 2023, the AlpenStadtMuseum was officially opened in a newly converted building to welcome local visitors and international guests, and families in particular.

The Heimathaus, a historical farmhouse, constitutes a unique feature of the museum with its specific type of local housing including living and working areas. It is the largest and oldest exhibit in the collection which is also accessible to visitors.

The permanent exhibition offers multifaceted visitor experiences, such as an experience trail for children following Friedl the housefly, an audio play, an interactive sledge ride, multi-sensory hands-on experiences plus a fully accessible media guide.

A new exhibition area depicts the history of the former NS-Ordensburg. A multi-perspective approach invites visitors to engage more deeply with German history in the 20th century at this specific site.
